Montpellier has been renowned for its faculty of medicine since the 14th century. This tradition of science has continued until today. It is here that the most brilliant researchers invented viticulture and modern oenology. Around the School of Agriculture, Montpellier has built up over time the largest center of wine research in the world. The terroirs of Grès de Montpellier, Saint Georges d'Orques, Saint Drézéry and Méjanelle are among the oldest in Languedoc. Over the centuries, the rich aristocrats and doctors of Montpellier have built superb wine castles on these terroirs. They called them their folies (that meands in french crazy, you should understand why when you visit it).

Côte Rôtie, Condrieu, Saint Joseph, Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage. Les Terroirs les plus au nord des Côtes du Rhône ont acquis, avec le temps, leurs lettres de noblesse. Royaume de la Syrah en rouge, du viognier en Blanc pour Condrieu, de la Roussanne et la Marsanne pour les blancs de l’Hermitage. Go with Carlos to discover the history of the village of Lagrasse, classified as "the most beautiful village in France". The walk begins in the medieval town of Lagrasse passing by the 11th century Benedictine Abbey, then continues between the vines where Carlos will introduce you to the Saint Victor terroir which produces AOC Corbières wines. After a 1h30 walk, you will arrive at the village of Ribaute at the Domaine des Cascades. Here Laurent and Sylvie, winegrowers engaged in organic farming, await you for a tasting of their wines, beers and fruit juices. This tasting can be accompanied by a country meal at the estate.
